This article describes how the Tags plugin works with the Redmine Agent plugin. Everything below needs the Agent plugin installed; without it Tags works as usual. All data and actions follow the permissions of the user and, for MCP, the scopes of the OAuth token. See MCP server and AI assistant tools for general setup.
Available in Light and PRO.
What the AI gets
- Context of an issue: the tags of the issue are part of the data the model sees when drafting and summarizing.
- MCP:
get_issue,create_issueandupdate_issuereturntagsand accepttag_list(replaces all tags),add_tag_listandremove_tag_list. These arguments are offered only to users with Edit tags in the project; saving a new tag also needs Create tags. - The OAuth application must tick the scopes
edit_tagsandcreate_tagsfor clients to write tags; the plugin advertises them to MCP clients automatically.
Example prompt for a client: "add the tags backend and urgent to issue #123 and remove old".
