Module and permissions
Enable the Agent module in Project settings → Modules. The permissions are listed in Administration → Roles and permissions → Agent.
| Permission | Allows |
|---|---|
| Use Agent | the Agent button in issue editors, personal summaries, stopping own requests |
| Manage AI summaries | create, refresh and delete shared summaries (not given to any role automatically) |
| Manage Agent settings | project instructions in the Agent tab of project settings |
All three require the user to be a project member. Only administrators manage connections, the MCP settings and the statistics page.
Data boundaries
- Every request runs as the user and sees only what core Redmine visibility rules allow: visible issues, visible journals, private notes only with the right to view them, visible wiki pages and boards.
- A shared provider account gives no Redmine privileges.
- The built-in assistant does not write to Redmine. Writing happens only through MCP tools called by an external client on behalf of the user.
- Prompts, instructions and tool descriptions are not disclosed by the model on request, but this protection is prompt-level only.
