Installing Agent plugin on Redmine in Linux

Requirements

• Redmine 6.1 or higher (Redmine 7.0 is supported)
• Ruby 3.2 or higher
• Access to an AI provider (API key, a local model, or a ChatGPT subscription in PRO)

Installation

1. Stop Redmine.

2. Copy the plugin folder to the Redmine plugins directory so that it is named redmineup_agent:

cp -r redmineup_agent /path/to/redmine/plugins/

3. Install the gems and migrate the database:

cd /path/to/redmine
bundle install
bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redmineup_agent RAILS_ENV=production

4. Start Redmine.

Open Administration → Plugins: Redmine Agent must be in the list. The AI Agent item also appears in the administration menu.

Upgrade

Replace the plugin folder with the new version and run the same bundle install and redmine:plugins:migrate commands, then restart Redmine. Upgrading from Light to PRO needs no data migration: both editions use the same tables.

Uninstall

bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redmineup_agent VERSION=0 RAILS_ENV=production
rm -r /path/to/redmine/plugins/redmineup_agent

Restart Redmine afterwards. This removes connections, instructions, summaries and run history.
