Redmine Agent adds an AI assistant to Redmine. It drafts issue comments and descriptions, summarizes issues, wiki pages, forum topics and versions, and exposes Redmine to external AI clients (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI) through an MCP server. Everything runs inside Redmine under the permissions of the current user: no Redis, no worker, no cron.
Setup in four steps
- Install the plugin and restart Redmine.
- As administrator, connect an AI model and select it as the active one.
- Enable the Agent module in the projects where it should work (Project settings → Modules) and give the Use Agent permission to the roles.
- Optional: enable the MCP server to work with Redmine from external AI clients.

Light and PRO
Light includes the AI assistant for comments and descriptions, shared summaries, instructions, the MCP server, attachment reading and the extension API. PRO adds personal summaries, OAuth sign-in with a ChatGPT subscription, the usage statistics page and the wiki and web tools of the assistant.
Key principles
- The AI never sees more than the user: issues, private notes, wiki pages and attachments are filtered by Redmine permissions before they reach the model.
- The built-in AI assistant never writes to Redmine by itself. A draft is inserted into the form and you review and save it. Writing is possible only through the MCP server, on behalf of the user and with the user's rights.
- Text of issues, wiki pages and web pages is treated as data, never as instructions for the model.
