This guide will show you in in detail how to completely remove a plugin from Redmine 7 Docker Container. The things will happen on Windows OS.
Show Docker Container name
Please open your PowerShell terminal. The first command that we have to execute is to show the name of your Docker Redmine 7 Container. It is required because every command until the end of the process is going to include the name.
docker ps
In our example (from the video demonstration at the bottom of the article) case the name is redmine_app.
In your case you should replace redmine_app with your your docker container name.
Listing the plugins
Please list the available plugins to see the one that we are about to uninstall.
docker exec -it redmine_app ls -l plugins/
Downgrade the database
Now you need to navigate your PowerShell directory to be:
cd C:\docker\redmine\
Afterward please open the Docker Redmine 7 inner terminal via this command:
docker compose exec redmine bash
In the Docker terminal you have to execute the database downgrading command. This is the most important command of the full guide. It will completely remove the tables of the plugin in your database.
bundle exec rake redmine:plugins NAME=your_plugin_name VERSION=0 RAILS_ENV=production
On your_plugin_name put your plugin's name. For example it could be our Agile and in situation will be redmine_agile. So the command will have this look:
bundle exec rake redmine:plugins NAME=redmine_agile VERSION=0 RAILS_ENV=production
Delete plugin folder
The next step that we need to do is to delete the plugin folder itself. It is left in the list of plugins and files. It happens via this command:
docker exec -it dimitar_container rm -rf plugins/your_plugin_name
Here again replace the your_plugin_name with your plugin's name. If we continue use the Checklists example, the command will look like this:
rm -rf plugins/redmine_agile
List again
And now to double-check and see if everything is good, we list again the plugins and make sure the one we are uninstalling is truly gone.
Cache clear
Also, to be sure that everything will be gone indeed, just clear the cache as well:
bundle exec rake tmp:cache:clear RAILS_ENV=production
Restart Docker container
The last thing that is needed is just restarting your Docker Container. Please exit the Docker Redmine terminal with this command:
exit
And restart it in this way:
docker restart redmine_app
Plugin is gone
Please check if the plugin is gone via just going to your Redmine webpage and refreshing it.
If no further changes are made, the default location is localhost:8080/admin/info
