Does Planner change my issues while I drag bars?
No. Every move goes to the Draft. Issues change only when somebody selects Apply selected in Review changes. See Draft, Review, Apply and Discard.
Can two people plan the same project?
Yes, they share one Draft: each issue has one proposed change, visible on every Planner page. Whoever changes an issue last wins. Divide the project between planners or plan together.
Who can apply changes?
A user with Edit planner draft who also has the core permission of the change: Edit issues for issues, Manage issue relations for dependencies. Rows the user cannot apply are disabled in the Review table.
Which days does Planner treat as free?
The non-working days of Redmine (Administration, Settings, Issue tracking, Non-working days). Holidays and absences are not considered. See Working days.
What does Planner do with parent tasks?
If the dates of parents are calculated from subtasks, the parent is shown as a grey Summary bar and cannot be edited. Edit its subtasks. If parent dates are independent, the parent is an ordinary bar.
Why is there no automatic rescheduling of successors?
Planner shows violations and never moves issues you did not touch. When you apply a predecessor, Redmine itself reschedules the successors and the Review table lists them in advance.
Is the critical path saved?
No. It is calculated in the browser from the dates you see (with the Draft) every time you move something. Save a baseline to keep dates.
What is the difference between total float and free float?
Total float is how many working days an issue may slip before the end of the project moves. Free float is how many it may slip before the next issue has to move. Free float is never larger than total float. See the worked example in Critical path and float.
Can I use Planner without the PRO build?
Yes. The Light build has the chart, editing, Draft and Review, dependencies and Undo. Grouping, color, columns, milestones, baselines and the critical path are PRO. See the table in Getting started with Planner.
Does Planner need other RedmineUP plugins?
No. Grouping by Agile sprint and coloring bars use the Agile PRO plugin when it is installed; without it these choices are absent. Resource planning (availability, bookings) stays in the Resources plugin; Planner does not read it.
Which Redmine versions are supported?
Redmine 5.0 to 7.0, Ruby 3.0.1 or newer.
Is there a REST API for the Draft?
Not yet. The Draft is edited from the Planner page only.
