This step-by-step guide will show you in how to completely remove the Helpdesk plugin from Redmine 7 Docker Container. All is done on Ubuntu Linux 26.04 operating system.
Show Docker Container name
The very first command that we need to execute is showing the name of your Docker Redmine 7 Container. It is needed because every single command until the end of the process is going to include this name.
sudo docker ps
In my case the name is dimitar_container.
Listing the plugins
Now, please list the available plugins to check the one that we will uninstall.
sudo docker exec -it dimitar_container ls -l plugins/
Downgrade the database
This is the most important part of the full guide. It will downgrade your database in relation to the Helpdesk. So it will completely remove the tables of this plugin in your database.
sudo docker exec -it -e RAILS_ENV=production dimitar_container bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redmine_contacts_helpdesk VERSION=0
Delete plugin folder
Next step that we need to do is just delete the plugin folder that is left in the list. It happens via this command:
sudo docker exec -it dimitar_container rm -rf plugins/redmine_contacts_helpdesk
List again
To double-check and see if everything is fine, we list again the plugins and make sure the Helpdesk is gone.
Cache clear
To be sure that everything will be gone, just clear the cache as well:
sudo docker exec -it -e RAILS_ENV=production dimitar_container bundle exec rake tmp:cache:clear
Restart
The final thing that is needed is restarting your Docker Container.
sudo docker restart dimitar_container
Plugin is gone
Now check if the plugin is gone indeed via just going to your Redmine webpage and refreshing it.
